Thegoodvibez#031 jazz-hop

There it is, my first post of 2012 thegoodvibez#031 jazz-hop. But before we jump right in, I had to take down my top 100 tracks of 2011, FileFactory wants people to have a premium (paying) account to download any files heavier then 500 mb so I just deleted it. So thegoodvibez#030 another jazz-hop mix, you know the deal, hip-hop on the jazz tip so it’s on like King Kong, here are my favorite tracks:

Sleep Ft Aaron Livingston by The Roots from their last album Undun which came out December 10th 2011. Last July I was fortunate enough to see The Roots live (thanks to Narv, you’s in the house and I can’t wait for your return) and they brought it, the show was short 75 minutes if I recall but it was an intense 75 minutes. On their last album, The Roots decided to put more emphasis on the instrumentalisation and you can feel it in the song. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib collab. This is their debut release, created specifically for Madlib's Medicine Show Tour, late 2011 and an album is due for 2012. Well Madllib is solid as usual, I had no idea who Freddie Gibbs was but I’m looking forward to that album for sure. Last but not least we have (drum rolls please), They Say Remix by Rapper big Pooh featuring Phife Dawg and T3. I just have to say one thing and one thing only, Phife Dawg brings it that’s it. I was so happy to hear Phife Diggy dropping some vocals, do I hear future projects for the Five Footer ? I sure hope so. Ok I added this track right before I finished the mixing and 05 by Slum Village is simply a majestic track, starts with a Miles Davis like horn, then the live drums kick in and the rest is history, much love to SV (one of the most underrated hip hop groups out there and R.I.P to Dilla)

Keep in mind that this is to promote less mainstream artists so support the arts. I know in this digital era it’s very easy to click download but you can also support the artist by going to see them live, checking out their website or by purchasing some promotional articles.

I Still got some more music coming up for 2012. Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Peace & I’m out !

Greetings and salutations party people, here is a mix that just like a volcano was dormant, just sitting there in my music library collecting particles of micro-dust and I just needed to post this, I have procrastinated enough !!!

I can't even start with my favourite tracks because I just enjoy them all. So a new Radiohead track (weak album but fantastic track, did you see Thom York dancing in the video ?). Posrtishead with Chase the Tear, I'm just loving this track, I felt let down with the album 3 however that single is keeping me hopeful. In the summer 2010 I saw Neon Indian live and was blown away, hopefully they will come up with some new material for 2011 but Psychic Chasms (The Phenomenal Handclap Band Remix) is a fantastic song. We get funky with Toro Y Moi with New Beat, loved his 2010 release Causers of This and his 2011 release Underneath The Pine is even better. Gotta show love to my canucks, Buck 65 with Paper Airplane featuring Jenn Grant, Mélissa Laveaux doing a Beyonce cover (from Montréal and she's haitian too), Chromeo which we all know and love with Hot Mess Remix featuring La Roux and new commer Rich Aucoin outing his way up. I'm also feeling the new Theophilus London mixtape ''I Want you'' with the track Sorry To Interrupt and my little discovery, last but not least Submotion Orchestra a seven piece band from Leeds which is a cross over Cinematic Orchestra and Burial with All Night (Original Mix) that track is dark, gritty but sensual at the same time check them out.

So this is going to be my last post for a while because I'm going to revamp the whole site, I'm trying to get all of my mixes together (this one is the 30th). Enough with these words my blog is all about the music so … enjoy!

Comments and suggestions are welcomed and don't forget, support creative thinking.

DOWNTEMPO electronic vibez

Another day and yes another post and yeah, Happy New Year and I hope 2011 will be a good musical year o ten was aaiiight hopefully o 11 will be mo’ better! Episode # 29 is a blend of minimalist techno, electronica and trip hop. You know, music is music I have to sick back think of witty ways to describe my post it good music and that’s that !!!.

Favorite tracks, Latch by Scuba from the album Triangulation and I call this one post-modern dubstep (wanna have fun labeling music LOL) then Do The Astral Plane by Flying Lotus from his Epic Cosmogramma. So I snuck some FL in there simply because I’m still in the process of digesting the album. Cosmogramma is dense, complex, layered and that track is the most accessible song from the album. I have to put Pray For Rain (Tim Goldsworthy Remix) in there because I’m a huge Massive Attack fan and I love what they did with Trip Hop over the years and Heligoland their latest album is simply majestic. I also gotta show love to Bonobo featuring Andreya Triana with The keeper.

More changes for thegoodvibez, a new web site soon with streamable audio and video is in the works.

Thegoodvibez#029

01-Latch – Scuba

Thegoodvibez#028 Sexy Grooves

Jazzy Jonez with another goodvibez post and this one is a little special. The idea came to me, one. I wanted to listen to something funky, sexy and I just couldn’t find anything to quench my musical thirst so I decided to make my own mix.

Sexy Grooves is to be used when that soft romantic R&B just doesn’t cut it anymore now don’t get me wrong sometimes it’s cool but this is when you want to bring it to a whole new level. Be concerned my readers and listeners because this is not for prude ears, There’s some heavy moaning, some sexy dialogue and on one song the is talk about sodomy, so explicit it is! (I think the artwork speaks for itself).

Top 3 tracks was nearly impossible to choose but here we go. Night Theme by The Sound Stylistics is the perfect example of that heavy bass line, wah guitar and a kick ass horn section that makes this track one of the sexiest on episode 28. Toeachizown (D-F’s Theme) by Dam Funk captures the essence of late 70’s early 80’s funk, bass and keyboard heavy this will satisfy the most demanding funkateer. Last but not least Why’d U Call Me? (3am) By Plantlife, imagine if Prince was part of the Funkadelic they would of sounded just like that and this song is a game changer it will do the job for you. I can go on and on, ok just one more. Too Drunk Too Fuck by Nouvelle Vague is another one of my classics, it’s funny, sexy and I love that 60’s French vibe.

So the year is coming to an end, I still haven’t said my last words. Hopefully I’ll be able to do one or two more posts, just to wrap up the year goodvibez style. As usual comments and suggestions are welcomed.

thegoodvibez#027 Jazz-Hop

Wassapnin’ party-people here is another episode of the goodvibez, I bring you episode #026 a sultry velvety jazz-hop mix. Episode #24 had such a huge success that I just decided to swiftly compile and blend another mix. Like the name says, jazz-hop is not just a mix of jazz and hip hop, the genre is very flexible, there’s some soul elements in there, some blues, electronica shows up as well. I would go as far as saying that jazz-hop is more atmospheric then anything else and I will feature more artists of the genre.

So let’s jump to my favorite tracks, Rather Be With by Wale, takes the cake on this mix. The sublime production, handled by 9th Wonder, J Cole just brings in on this verse. I know he’s getting a lot of attention lately, he just dropped Friday Night Lights his 3rd mix tape and this one is Epic. He just signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation and he resides in Fayetteville North Caroline, needless to say, boy gots skills.

I have two choices for my 2nd preferred track and both are somehow linked to Kanye West. G.O.O.D. Music feat. Common & Talib Kweli, a Consequence track from Perajok & Kanye West Presents: G.O.O.D. Ass Mix tape and who is Perajok you might ask ? Cause I was asking, she’s a model and MTV Russia host. This promotional compilation was actually in conjunction with the release of Mr. West’s GOOD ass job that evolved to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (fantastic album by the way Kanye really outdid himself on that one but don’t tell him, it might go to his head). Good Friday featuring Common, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Big Sean & Charlie Wilson, this track is simply impossible to hate on, I mean you have an incredible, mellow and accessible instrumental with a shining trifecta of mc’s. You can get 12 more FREE tracks on G.O.O.D Fridays.

The Suite For Beaver Part 1 by People Uder The Stairs. I’ve been following these west-coast cats since early 2000 and this track is from the album O.S.T. (Original Soundtrack) is still one of my favorite albums.

I also have to give an honorable mention to Chillaxation by Bop Alloys (the perfect example of jazz hop) also I stumbled upon a free EP by Bodega Man representing’ Long Beach and he is on point. I choose the track You Feel Me. Last but not least, show love to my man from the New-Z Alphabethead with 33 Conclude With Orchid Groove, a smooth jazzy instrumental to close this session.

Here’s what I got for you before the end of the year. I got one downtempo chilled out mix for ya’ll. For quite sometime now, I’ve been putting together the soundtrack for a fictional 70′s adult flick. I’m really looking to push this blog to the next level for 2011. So much love to thegoodvibez followers, comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Here is another chapter of the goodvibez presents. Basically I take an artist and do a little compilation of their work. So for the goodvibez#026 I present you Bajka.

Bajka (pronounced "Bai-Kah") is a female artist born in India and grew up in Portugal and South Africa. She is a poet, singer, producer and songwriter.[1][2] "Bajka" in some slavonic languages means "fable".
Bajka studied music in Prague. Her relationship with Asia remains the main theme of her poetry. She has performed spoken word poetry on several projects, including Bonobo and Radio citizen, her latest solo record is called Bajka in Wonderland, released on Chinchin records.[3]
In recent years, her role has moved from poet to singer and composer as well as producer. Her voice is described as jazz/soul and she has appeared on a number of chill out and electronic dance tracks.
She is currently based in Berlin, Germany. (Wikipedia)

I noticed Bajka when I first heard the song Days to come from the Bonobo and she seduced me with her sultry voice then I rediscovered her on the track The Hop by Radio Citizen from the album Berlin Serengeti which is an underated gem needless to say when her solo album Bajka In wonderland was released I devoured it with my ears and delicious it was indeed. Bajka In Wonderland is more of a jazz album, I am mentioning this because the previous stuff was more electronic. On September 17th 2010, a remix album called BAJKA - Escape from Wonderland with remixes from: Bahama Soul Club, Basement Freaks, Bebo Best,Club des Belugas, Dr. Rubberfunk, Fab Samperi, Jojo Effect, Minimati, MopMop, Renegades of Jazz, Smoove, Solo Moderna, Tim McVicar, Valique but I did not check it out.

Keep in mind that this is to promote less mainstream artists so support the arts. I know in this digital era it’s very easy to click download but you can also support the artist by going to see them live, checking out their website or by purchasing some promotional articles.

Hope you enjoyed this post, comments and suggestions are always welcomed.

thegoodvibez#025 notes

I did not waste any time posting a brand new mix, this episode #025, electro, rock, pop, indie music. This would tear up any party I guarantee !!!!

There's some amazing stuff in that mix, some unclassifiable tracks like the closing song, Sheep by Gonjasufi from the album a Sufi And A Killer. A fantastic album I strongly recommend it. I was lucky to see Chromeo live a few weeks ago and they rocked the house without a doubt !!! the new single Night by Night from their soon to be released 3rd album Business Casual. The song is pure 80's funk Chromeo doesn't reinvent the genre but musically, these guys are in a league of their own, much love. While I was looking for songs for that mix I discovered Sarah Blasko with Hold On My Heart Presets Remix. She reminds me of an Australian version of Feist and that accent is so sexy. Another discovery is Popnoname with Hello Gorgeous, LA Famous by Idle Warship (A Talib Kweli project).

I wanna say peace to Dave from the New ZEE ! I know you are a hip hop head but check out this mix all the songs are musically very interesting. Also thanks from the people that followed me from Blogger hopefully the migration wasn't too much of a pain in the behind. Artwork by me as usual check me out right here.

Comments, suggestions, drop me a few lines.

Wassapnin' party people and yes this is another edition of the goodvibez and it's with great pleasure that I bring you my latest mix... Jazz Hop. I've been cooking up that compilation for a while and I must say that I'm happy with the results. There ate some very known names, some new comers but the mix is sucka free as always.

It was a difficult task as usual to choose my top 3, I put a lot of effort to choose the right tracks, make sure they go well together. I'll go with Check The Rhime '09 by QuEST & Nero two upcoming rhymers but damn they represent a cover of one of my all time favorite tracks. Push On by Surreal & The Sound Providers is the perfect definition of jazz hop, a nice bass line and Surreal just flowin' on the mic. Now last but not the least is a Canadian rapper by the name of Shad. I know right now Drake is blowin' up but he doesn't come close to Shad's lyrical ability. The track telephone will demonstrate what I'm talking about and his album TSOL is not to be slept on. Honorable mention to Gift of Gab with Flashback, Pat D & Lady Paradox with I Wanna Feel Days straight from the UK and a young producer by the name of Suff Daddy with Join the Club.

Much love to the goodvibez followers, keep in mind that I'm doing this strictly for the love of music and it's with great pleasure that I share this with all ya'll. The artwork is made by me check out more of my artwork here.
